Matthew Morland, Director of Brisbane-based Freedom Fuels , has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Biofuels Association of Australia, (BAA) and replaces the outgoing Chairman Neil Rae, the Director of Perth-based Gull Group . Both Morland & Rae are committed businessmen, leaders in the Australian Petroleum Industry, and passionate supporters of renewable Biofuels (both Ethanol & Biodiesel Biofuels). Mr. Rae remains a member of the BAA Board of Directors. The BAA is the Biofuel Industry’s peak-body and accountable to its members for promoting an environmentally-sustainable and economically-viable industry that is in harmony with Australia’s national interest and meets world’s best-practice for health and safety. The recently appointed (October) CEO is Heather Brodie and she has grabbed the baton from the inaugural and highly respected former CEO Bruce Harrison.
Although only formed a little more than two years ago by an amalgamation of two dysfunctional Australian biofuel groups; the BAA has represented the interests of its members and Australian Biofuel Stakeholders in diverse issues ranging from fuel quality to taxation and the food vs. fuel media frenzy. The other officers to the Board include: Chairman – Matthew Morland Treasurer – Andrew Hill Secretary – Heather Brodie Public Officer – Matthew Ingersoll Unfortunately, the mountain of challenges before the BAA is far from conquered, and Mr. Morland, the other 8 members of the Board and CEO Brodie have their climbing shoes and spikes ready for the assault on that ominous peak. We know the summit is there, but we are working so hard at getting to the next Base Camp, we haven’t seen the summit yet. However, we know it is there. ML |
